Hi, I've been throwing around a couple ideas for fangames the past year or so as I've been learning RPG Maker XP and Essentials and was wondering how difficult it would be to change up the battle system. Specifically, I had an idea that would require a "life points" (think yu-gi-oh) system that allows the trainer to be attacked directly by certain moves, in order to create a secondary loss condition for the player in battle besides all pokemon fainting (that being the death/fainting of the trainer). Obviously this would involve a lot of custom moves and abilities, which I more or less know how to do, but it's making the system itself and giving the trainer a health stat that I'm unsure on.
Now, I've studied the basics of Essentials and know my way around XP, but I'm still very much a novice when it comes to making my own code, as I've been relying quite heavily on plugins. So I thought I'd just ask if anyone has any resources or ideas on how to code something like this! Any input is appreciated, even if it's just to tell me that this isn't possible in Essentials after all ^^
