Notes:
It's random chance that goes into deciding who you face at the Gym. I've done everything I could think of to keep it interesting and avoid repetition, but it may happen once in a while, especially early on. Also, some early-game Trainers get stronger if you leave them be. You can only fight each Trainer once, so make it count!
Finally, there is no barrier between areas. You can access areas containing Pokemon five times your strength straight out the gate!
Have fun you guys!

Hello, everyone! Sorry for being so quiet, as of late. Long work weeks, minor medical stuff, and a bit of burn-out came together to really tucker me out these past days. However, these issues have begun to wane, and I hope to pick up the pace rapidly here soon!

In the meantime, I've edited the Version Differences document in preparation for the final demo before the full version! If you want to see a snippet of what's to come, please feel free to look!

Until then, I hope you all have a nice day!

Version Differences Document: https://docs.google.com/document/d/16qb5zlTMzgPjV1EgYIbB1LgBSsLrnSwlRfOFjqX3u-s/edit?usp=drive_link

I started a new play through of rank up edition and when I enter cold steel cavern I can’t leave or move only spin in place, did I miss something in installation or is this a known issue at all?

ragequit after i chose to be a dragon-type gym leader. definetely choosing a different type for the next save, lol.

Is there a reason why there is no Mega Evolution in your game Otherwise, this game is perfect, and I love it so much

Backing up the previous comment, are you gonna add all battle mechanics? And if so, can we get to decide which one to use in our gym or can we theoretically use all of them at once?

Will there be any Mega Evolution, Z-Moves, Dynamax/Gigantamax, Terastalization, and 1,025 Pokémon, available to catch in Pokémon: This Gym of Mine?

Hello, everyone! I apologize for my lack of attention to this forum. College has been quite the distraction, especially as of late, but I shouldn't be leaving you guys in the dark for so long. As we get closer to summer, I hope to be able to respond to questions with more frequency. In the meantime, however, I have been very busy with Rank Up edition! With the next demo featuring ranks 3 and 4, I wanted to make sure many of the game's mechanics were in a place that I felt gave players flexibility in their team composition and movesets. As such, I have been going over a number of game mechanics, moves, abilities, etc. and trying to refine and expand on them in a way that felt worthwhile! All of the changes are documented in the Version Differences and Technical documents. I HIGHLY recommend checking them out to see everything, but here is a few highlights I'd like to share with you all:

Weather -
Hail has been replaced by its counterpart Snow! Acting like it did in Scarlet and Violet, the Defense boost will help bulkier Ice-types truly shine! Hail hasn't been scrapped, however. Hail is now a field effect! It can only be activated while it is snowing OR raining, but, just like always, it deals damage to all non-Ice type Pokemon each turn! Fans of Ice Pokemon will have some new tools to play around with!

Status Effects -
To keep in lock-step with the weather updates, Sleep and Frozen have been switched out with their Legends counterparts, Drowsy and Frostbite... mostly. Frostbite completely replaces Frozen (seriously, who likes the Frozen status? You can't even hardly play around it. It just kind of happens.) Sleep, however, remains as a "badly poisoned" version of Drowsy. Moves that originally inflicted Sleep will normally inflict Drowsy, but some can still inflict Sleep under the right conditions, or if you want to gamble with accuracy (this might change).

Another status that has been altered is Infatuation. Moves and abilities that normally inflict Infatuation now inflict Flustered! Flustered is no longer gender dependant and no longer prevents the opponent from moving. Instead, Flustered Pokemon deal less damage and take increased damage from contact moves. With the changes to this status, I've altered certain moves and abilities to take advantage of this status! Lovely Kiss normally inflicts Drowsy, but a flustered Pokemon falls asleep instead! Rivalry is no longer gender dependent. Instead, it does additional damage if the Pokemon is flustered! We hope this expansion gives you new ideas for possible strategies and teams! Happy theorycrafting, you guys!

Abilities -
Out of everything I've been doing so far, nothing has received nearly as massive of a changes as certain older abilities! Check the docs for everything so far, but here are a few examples!
  • Run Away now creates an escape route on entry! Escape route guarantees you can switch out your Pokemon, no matter what!
  • Pick Up picks up items during battle now! After a few turns, your Pokemon can pick up a used held item or one that has been knocked off!
  • Damp prevents burns! (Yes, I know that makes the 4th ability unique to Water-types that do this, but have a heart for Poliwrath)
  • Light Metal ignores entry hazards, assuming Gravity isn't active or their holding an Iron Ball.
This isn't even scratching the surface! Please check the full docs when you have the time, or find out by playing the demo when it releases, however you want to play!

Sorry for no screenshots yet. That should change here soon, however, so please stay tuned! Until then, I hope you all have a nice day!

Hey, awesome to see it's still being worked on! Definitely prioritize yourself over making this happen though! I'm as excited for the eventual full release as can be, but your health and well-being (as well as academics) 100% take priority. I hope things get easier for you soon, and I look forward to what you have in store for us in future updates!

Hello, everyone! Apologies for the wait, some aspects of the game are taking a bit longer than expected. Despite this, Rank Up Edition is coming along at a nice pace! At the moment, the main goal is to finalize designs for new Pokemon and bring older sprites closer to par with other newer sprites.

Here are a few examples:

JtZjlDD.png

va7KlLR.png
bW8oD5i.png
lRbpLx9.png

In addition to these changes, certain Pokemon sprites have been altered, as well. Since there are a number of regional variants in Pokemon This Gym of Mine, I wanted it to be easier to tell at a glance what variant a Pokemon will evolve into.

Take a guess what variants these Pokemon will evolve into:
Fi7ElZf.png
Lb3vkIR.png
0sblJBY.png

IhacObx.png
hK5bYsG.png

There has also been an effort to add in Pokemon and moves from the newer titles, Legends: Arceus and Scarlet/Violet:
cOjG8ts.png
QHsOzvC.png
(Sprite credits belong to their relevant parties: The-King-Of-Roads-X, Mak, leParagon, Caruban, Azria, Mashirosakura, Katten, jinxed)

Speaking of new Pokemon, here are some brand-new additions to Pokemon This Gym of Mine: Rank Up Edition!
uFKvH65.png

Frijian Arcanine: The Sanctuary Pokemon
Ghost/Fairy
Believed to be a Trainer's beloved Pokemon, it took this form upon their passing. It guards graveyards from thieves and other mischievous Pokemon that would disturb their resting place.

iQtF6ZU.png

Endurant: The Queen Ant Pokemon
Bug/Steel
When local Durant populations grow too dense, one of their brood evolves into Endurant. It quickly sires new Durant to completely subjugate its territory. It quickly becomes a pest, if not brought under control.

8TSVISc.png

Opulite Lucario: The Aura Pokemon
Dark/Fighting
Bred for protection and fighting, Opulite Lucario was seen as a violent Pokemon by nature. However, as more people began to raise this Pokemon, it proved to be a loyal and loving Pokemon, defending its family with little regard for itself.

M6JfhGD.png

Obsidollusc: The Obsidian Pokemon
Rock
Experiencing cooler temperatures have caused some Magcargo to undergo a strange evolution. Trading its incredible heat for shards of brittle rock, it slashes and splinters them to damage oncoming attackers.

v8gYt0Z.png

Poppatch: The Suit Pokemon
Ghost/Normal
Having added various scraps of cloth to itself, it roams through the night, hoping to finally make a permanent friend. This is ill-advised, however, as what becomes of Poppatch's friends is unknown.

O4JP6Yx.png

Opulite Stunky: The Perfume Pokemon
Poison/Grass
Despite being just as rancid as its cousin, Stunky cannot withstand its own spray's scent. To counteract this, it sprouts flowers on its body. Due to the potency and longevity of its smell, it is studied for applications in various perfumes.

IasMF4t.png

Wuvdisc: The Soulmate Pokemon
Water/Fairy
Upon finding a suitable mate, Wuvdisc intricately dances with its partner. Even should the two be seperated, they will mark their reunion with the same dance.

zEmiUkE.png

Egreskiss: The Collective Pokemon
Psychic/Ghost
Egrekiss is formed by the unified thoughts of a group of people under incredible, concentrated psychic energy. It grows sad when hidden and becomes lonesome quickly.

Getting away from Pokemon for a second, Umbal City's Commercial District, which will become available in this upcoming update, is receiving a major rework! In Rank Up, the Commercial District unique buildings will be scrapped. In their place will be 3 city projects! These projects will not only increase your revenue, but will have other uses for you to utilize! Stay tuned for more info as it progresses!
cLx9kaJ.png

Finally, I would like to tease one of the Business Trips that would become available during the next update. To recap, Business Trips are similar to vacations, letting you visit other areas of your region, but with special events and storylines, such as one that ties into the story of the Even Badderlands!
Connections to the strange and baffling Even Badderlands have been discovered in various locations away from Umbal City. With the aid of Reginald, discover what you can about these access points, including stories of new and strange Pokemon appearing nearby!
Kaek59F.png
lxPN52V.png
kDTtqb0.png

Some of these Business Trips will have unique rewards, such as not normally available Pokemon. One of these is a special Pawniard with the ability Promotion, letting it assume its stronger Queen form upon defeating an enemy Pokemon!
urrsAMo.png
OfLsoov.png

Thank you all for your patience with Rank Up Edition! Development will continue at a steady pace, with more frequent progress reports to come! Until then, I hope you all have a nice day!

Loving the new upcoming stuff! I got two questions:
1- About the special Pawniard, can it benefit from the Eviolite or is it gonna be considered a fully evolved Pokemon?
2- I know it's a ridiculous amount of work and there is a high chance of it being unlikely to happen, but can we see some outfit customization? Like skin tone, haircut, hair/eye colors, or even some outfits that could match our gym's type specialty (like a water themed outfit for Water specialists, ragged outfits for Ghost specialists, Dragon Clan themed outfits for Dragon specialists, etc...)? Again, this is a ridiculous amount of work, and I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't include this. Adding it or not is entirely up to you
