In the megalopolis of Lysna, the Company's word is law.
The poor live in squalor and darkness in the lowest levels of the city.
Their hopes have died in the shadows and murk - all but one.
The Mortal Pact dictates that anybody may make one wish of the Company - and in exchange for a task of equivalent difficulty, their wish shall be fulfilled.
Four city-dwellers' grand aspirations culminate in the pact to end all pacts:
Save a reality-bending Poipole from the grasp of crime magnate Night Daze, and prevent the two from bringing Lysna's one billion inhabitants to their knees.

Nascent End is a game set in a vibrant and unusual world rich with history. It features:

A cast of four selectable unique characters, each with a special Pokémon, and...
The Sigil System, where each character has a special active and passive ability for use in battle
An in-depth party management system, where each character has 2 Pokémon tied to them
A character-driven adventure, determined by which Explorer you choose to play as
One-of-a-kind changes and additions that completely upturn one's approach to battling
A concerning amount of custom code
~2 hours of content

The game has a lot of custom code and complicated events, in part due to the four different characters the player can choose. Although there's been a lot of testing, a slight bit of jank is to be expected.
Each character has their unique advantages, but since this is only the first half of the story, some will be stronger than others.

Hello, I just finished the game's intro and wanted to let you know that the visuals are gorgeous so far 😍
However, my screen stays black (with periodic white flashes) after the first cutscene at the office (happens whoever I choose).

Also, this tile is passable and probably allows me to bypass some of the intro's cutscene.

The Razor Fang fight also allows me to obtain the reward even when I lose the fight, not sure if it's intended.

Fixed a game-breaking bug that took place when visiting the next area after blacking out. Thanks to Altarax for helping me find the issue! If you were affected by this, it should fix itself as soon as you load your save.
 
Hello, I am done with your game.
Was a nice experience overall even though there were some polishing issues.

Is the shiny rate boosted? Because I encountered a shiny Basculin:

The visuals are stunning.
All the new system you implemented are nice and worked as intended for me. They also add a new interesting strategic depth to the double battles. The tip panels to smoothly introduce the new gameplay elements permited me to not being overwhelmed by all those new informations.
I can see that you put a lot of efforts to make the game with double battles and multiple characters fun to play. The Capture Spheres is a perfect example for this as it removes the frustration to lose a nice Pokémon if my mate KOes it.

The gameplay loop which consists on beating some obstacles to progress in the story and obtain lore informations worked very well. I think it might not suit for every type of players though as it requires you to be curious about the world and invested on it to work out.
I liked the backstory of each characters and they feel distinct enough from eachother.
And the things which happened during the game were very cool.

I feared that the balancing could be a problem after the Ludicolo battle, but the fact that you gave out the item to make Pokémon catchup to your level solved that issue.

My main concern about the game is the fact that it currentely suffers from a little bit of lack of polish and some bugs. Here are the nipticks I found out:

  • The Capture Spheres aren't consumed when I capture new Pokémon.
  • At the east of the Ludicolo map, there is a test map you forgot to remove.
  • Black borders could be seen from some maps.
  • The ledges border has got a passability issue.
  • I didn't black out at the second part of the story, so would strongly advice you to check out the blacking out also given the problems which were present at the intro.

I know how much this game counts for you and what I see currentely is very nice gameplay wise. The polishing issues I mentionned can easily be fixed with infinite time and some more experience in eventing. And given how well your scripts work I have no doubts on the fact that the game will work fine for the full release.
I definetely will be looking forward for the second part of the story :)

Fixed Capture Spheres not being consumed on use. Oops!
Edited the Tropics map to fix an accessible border, this shouldn't affect any saves.
UI tweaks, the battle UI got a pretty new makeover, as did the trainer card UI!
Edited the sparkle sprites to make them more noticeable.
 
Hi everyone, we're very aware of the bugs that we didn't manage to squash during playtesting week. Here is the list of current known bugs for now:
  • Passability issue on a ruin tile in the introductory stage
  • If you die to the Ludicolo boss battle in the tropics you gain access to Isha's ancient assassin art of permanent invisibility. Please save before advancing to this battle. We recommend resetting if you die here until we can patch it out after the judging period.
  • While fighting Ludicolo and his backup dancers, if you take out Ludicolo first, beating the right-most Oricorio first plays the victory music while letting the battle go on and beating the left one first ends the battle prematurely. We are currently investigating this bug.
  • Your game may freeze if you trigger the Haunted ailment on the Hivemind in the desert boss battle. This is something that we haven't been able to replicate but are looking into.
